Patty Smyth And Scandal working on new album

November 10, 2008 10:21 by Christopher

Patty Smyth and Scandal are back in the studio working on a new album. There is a nice interview here and you can check out Patty's own website/blog here.

A review of the recent Scandal show from one of my friends.

"To celebrate my birthday this year, my husband, my good friend from high school, and I went to one of my favorite places, Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA, to see Scandal.  Yes, I still call the band Scandal, not Patty Smyth with Scandal, the other way is just easier.  The concert started at 8:00 and at 7:50 as we were leaving the near-by bar/restaurant my husband announces that he better use the facilities one more time.  We are walking through the doors of the venue at approximately 8:07 and she is already on her second song!! "OMG", I said 'if she opened with 'Goodbye to You', we might as well leave right now!!"  The girl at the door assured me that she didn't.  What a night of singing both on stage and off (by me).  Patty sounded terrific!  The band only played for 1 hour and 15 minutes but what a jam packed time it was.  When I finally got to hear "Goodbye to You" live, which I have been waiting over 25 years to hear, it was AWESOME!  There was only one encore and my husband and I couldn't believe it.  The song was "River Deep, Mountain High" by Tina Turner!!!!!!  (Ike was not involved in that one thank goodness).  We went nuts because even though we like Scandal, we love Tina even more and we are going to see her in NJ on Nov. 26th!  Needless to say Scandal can still rock, but Patty should not try and eat apple slices between songs because she said she actually thought she was choking during one of the songs.  Oh ya, and refers to her husband as "Johnny Mac", John Mc Enroe for those not in the know. Rock on!

Kathy"
